Objects of Obsession (with the Royal Academy)
As part of the Royal Academy’s 250th anniversary celebrations, Cornelia Parker will take part in a conversation with broadcaster and RA artistic director Tim Marlow about her chosen Object of Obsession: ‘Sketch of an Idea for Crazy Jane’ by Richard Dadd from the Bethlem Museum of the Mind collection. Cornelia will explore the reasons why Dadd’s painting holds a personal meaning and relevance to her artistic process. Cornelia Parker RA is well known for her large scale, often site specific, installations. She works in a variety of media and has collaborated with institutions such as HM Customs & Excise, Royal Armouries, Madame Tussauds, The British Library and Victoria & Albert Museum, London. She was nominated for the Turner Prize in 1997. She was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2010.
