Confronting the Collections

As many of you will be aware, Bethlem Archives and Museum are in the process of moving to a bigger and better place on the hospital site. Part of this new space will be dedicated to a new, permanent exhibition space telling the story of Bethlem Royal Hospital. We want to make sure that what we are doing is right for our audiences, so, as the designs and content of the new museum are reaching their final stages, we need your input more than ever. We will be holding two 'Confronting the Collections' focus group sessions, where we will be asking people for their opinions on how we display some of the more challenging objects from our collections. You don't need to be experts to attend, or even to have been to the museum before - we're looking for a whole range of people to give their views.

Confronting the Collections: Thursday 23 January, 6-8pm: Focusing on ECT. Book via Eventbrite Thursday 6 February, 6-8pm: Focusing on restraints and strong clothing. Book via Eventbrite

Both events will be at Bethlem Archives and Museum, Monks Orchard Road, Beckenham, BR3 3BX and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome, but we'd be grateful if you'd book a place via the eventbrite links so that we have an idea of how many people will be attending.

We are also looking for people to give their views on the text we have produced for the museum. If you are interested in having your say, please contact us.
