Object Lessons: Introduction
Over a period of 12 weeks, volunteer researchers from the University of the Third Age (U3A) have been delving into the past of some of the museum’s collection of artefacts.
At the end of the project, participants organised a final presentation to museum staff, trustees and representatives from U3A of some of the highlights. The researchers’ hard work and persistence has thrown up fascinating details about objects from milk bottles to drug jars, from air raid helmets to tablet makers and sporting trophies. The wealth of information discovered will inform how the objects are displayed in the new museum and the interpretation provided for visitors.
Readers of the blog can gain a sneak preview of the research as many of the objects will feature in an upcoming series of blog posts – Object Lessons .
