Encased: the work of Cynthia Pell / (Mrs) Cynthia Weldon
Cynthia Weldon, née Pell, was recognised as an exceptionally promising and prolific artist but suffered mental illness throughout her life and spent much of it in and out of hospitals, hostels and institutions. On occasions she was homeless. This exhibition explores Pell’s art, life, identity and search for sanctuary. It includes three previously unseen works acquired and conserved by Bethlem Museum of the Mind as well as loan items from Pell’s art therapist Britta Von Zweigbergk and the New Hall Art Collection.
